I spent some months in Scandinavia during Navy service.When I got out of the Navy in 1963, I returned to college and got a degree in Scandinavian Studies, minor business admin. I returned to Norway for graduate studies at the Univ of Oslo from 1973-1975. During the summers I traveled to Germany for an immersion language program at a Goethe Institute in the Bavarian Alps near Munich. I spent weekends traveling to Austria for the music festivals etc in Salzberg.

After returning I worked for a small machinery company in Minneapolis but returned to Europe every year on vacation and later on business as a sales manager.

I married at 40 to a 14 year younger woman and had three sons before we divorced after 15 years-that was 15 years ago. Now I'm starting a second life with my sons no longer dependent on me. I'm retired but save for my son's college and trips to Europe.I spent 7 weeks with my 3 sons in Europe until mid-November2011.This year I spent 80 days exploring southern Europe from march untillate may. I may re tire to a a Greek island or Turkey as it's very affordable to live in a culture I consider much superior to US retirement areas.

Lifelong hedonist,love meeting real people; despise phony people,cosmetics,celebrity magazines,fast food,shallow thinkers. Love gardening, ethnic cooking, clear night skies a hundred miles from city lights.Helped deliver three sons after taking natural childbirth classes 30 years ago.Changed and washed thousands of cotton diapers and still ride a mountain bike, sled, hike hunt and fish with 19 and 21 year old sons. Grew up as the oldest son with 3 younger sisters and learned to be appreciate the "woman's work" scrubbing floors, washing clothes, picking weeds, raising chickens for eggs. Favorite foods include sushi and beef tartar with a raw egg.
